Loving Kindness

An Inner Source of Happiness

What is loving kindness?

There are many definitions of loving kindness, including that it's the simple and clear intention of good will.

It is the quality of heart that embraces living without conflict; it is a gentle invitation to soften our hearts, to connect deeply with all of life, and abide in the ultimate wonder of a peaceful relationship with everyone and everything.

I especially love the following extract from a beautiful poem on Metta (or loving kindness) by Chien Hong:

Loving kindness
In its purest form
Comes from acceptance
And embracing ourselves
For who we are,
and in that,
Learn to love others wholeheartedly
Unjudgingly and unconditionally
Without justification and condemnation

This way the barriers melt away
Allowing love and kindness
To shine in its entirety….
