A Love of Food
Do you have a love of food? You're certainly not alone! I adore losing myself to the pleasures of wholesome and beautiful food. Among its gifts, food has the power to heal our bodies, nurture our souls and give us comfort in traumatic times.
Sensual Food
There is nothing that can evoke a sensation or a memory quite as well as a delicious meal. It can take us back to the distant past or it can ground us in the present moment. To taste something yummy is a moment of pure joy. Fresh is best ~ and you can't go past a punnet of ripe berries for a dance of sheer luxury in your mouth. Combine with rose petals and vanilla syrup, and surely you must be in heaven. © Candace Hartley | Dreamstime.com Food also has the wonderful ability to nurture us in times of stress. When I feel upset or unwell, I yearn for a bowl of warm chicken soup packed with carrots, onions, celery, potatoes, lentils and fresh herbs. Soul food. The comfort is not just in the taste, but in the aroma and the warmth. Give me a thick slice of fresh bread to go with it, and I'm happy! I believe the true power in food is how it awakens all the senses, allowing us to feel pleasure on so many levels. Imagine the crispness of a green salad, the sweetness of a ripe mango, the velvet smoothness of a piece of a chocolate. Visualise how champagne and oysters excite the palate or watch someone's face come alive at the taste of their favourite dessert. Notice the reaction in your own body as you savour the aromas and textures of anything that you find delicious.... Food evokes strong primal urges from within us all and when you simply cannot resist, relax and enjoy the experiences.
