Romantic Meaningful Gifts
Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and that has a lot of people thinking about romantic meaningful gifts. Most often, we think of chocolate or flowers as "love gifts," but truly, just about anything goes when it comes to making a gift romantic and special.
Valentines Day Gifts and Other Special Days
What matters most when it comes to Valentines gifts and other special celebrations, is that the gift you give matches your loved one's personality and likes, and truly shows that you've put thought into the gift so that it's really something special.
Beyond chocolate and flowers: gifts for her
Again, chocolate and flowers are great as romantic meaningful gifts, but I'd bet anything that your girlfriend or spouse would love a gift that simply says, "I'm thinking of you."
Consider that for a minute: Is there a special restaurant your wife always likes to go to? Is there a romantic movie she's nuts about?
Make up a little gift basket with some of her favorite perfume, bubble bath, a DVD of her favorite movie, and yes, some of her favorite chocolate; this is a great Valentine's Day or birthday gift, but it can also just be a gift for no special reason, other than to show her that you're thinking of her.
Nix the gift-boxed necktie: gifts for him
Remember that, "I'm thinking of you" is the message you want to give with your love gift. So, think about your sweetie for a minute; what does he like that he thinks you don't even notice?
Maybe he's been drooling over an electric drill or the latest computer game, or maybe he'd really like season tickets to watch the Knicks play. (And hey, even if you're not into sports and he is, remember, this is not about you, but about what he would like.)
Romantic meaningful gifts that don't require money
Romantic meaningful gifts don't have to cost you anything, either.
Be spontaneous, be thoughtful, and give "love gifts" just as a surprise. For example, if your wife ALWAYS is the one who picks up the dry cleaning, does the dishes, or mop the floors, surprise her by doing these things every now and then before she comes home so that she doesn't have to.
Similarly, if your husband is the one who always takes out the garbage, always mows the lawn, or always walks the dog, surprise him at least occasionally by doing these things so that he doesn't have to, too.
Remember that romance isn't about money. It's not necessarily about buying a bright shiny bauble. It IS about careful thought, honoring you as a couple, and honoring your significant other as the person you want to spend your life with.
There are lots of creative ways to give romantic meaningful gifts on a daily basis. What ideas can you come up with?
