A Tribute to Mothers
It's time for a tribute to mothers...
Do we appreciate Mothers enough?
Just like the most beautiful of sunsets or the blooming of spring flowers, people generally tend to take their mothers for granted.
After all, has your mother not been there for you every time you needed her? When you fell down, it was your mother who picked you up and kissed your scraped knee. When you did not understand your homework assignment, it was your mother who took the time to sit down with you and explain the concept in a way that your teacher never could. When you absolutely had to have that dress for the high school dance, did she not find a way to buy it for you even though she could not afford it? These are just some of the things that mothers do for children.
It's hard for kids to understand the sacrifices that their mothers make for them. In fact, it is often not until a woman has children of her own that she comes to understand what her mother really means to her. Suddenly, everything makes sense. The punishments may have been severe, but didn't they teach you a life lesson? The boundaries were harsh, but didn't they keep you safe? The meals were not always as tasty as you would have liked, but weren't they the best she had to offer? And perhaps most important of all, weren't there lot of hugs to make everything right in the world?
With Mothers Day drawing close, take some time to think about how your mother shaped your life. Maybe you will come to understand how she helped you to become the person you are today - thanks to her love, her sacrifices and her willingness to put your needs above her own. On this Mothers Day, let your mom put her feet up while you do nice things for her. Not only will she appreciate it, she will feel loved. You'll get your day to sip iced tea on the deck when your job is done and your kids are grown.
