Short Love Stories: Love at First Sight

Reader Post: 'When I would hear people talk about love at first sight, I used to roll my eyes and leave the conversation as fast quickly as possible. I do have an imagination, but I just couldn't allow myself to suspend disbelief long enough to believe that love at first sight was actually possible.

Although my friends called me a workaholic, I preferred the term, "dedicated worker." Even though I'd been on more than my fair share of blind dates in the past year, I just didn't have a real connection with any of the guys. Whenever anyone brought up my single state, I changed the subject and tried to convince myself that I was perfectly happy being single. Well the truth is, even though I didn't really believe in fairy tales, I couldn't help but wish for my very own prince to come and sweep me off of my feet.

I had a Saturday morning tradition of reading for hours at my favorite 24 hour coffee shop, and just when I was getting to the part of the book where the mystery was to be revealed, hot coffee spilled all over my book. I was furious, and I started yelling at the offender as I tried to salvage what was left of my book. When I finally looked up to really give the person a piece of my mind, my mind went blank. I felt like I was looking at someone I'd known all of my life. He must have felt the same way because we just stood there, staring at each other. Right then, I just knew I was looking at the love of my life, and it was love at first sight.

We stayed in the coffee shop talking and laughing for what felt like 10 minutes, and before we knew it, the sun was rising on Sunday morning. Once I introduced Cole to my friends and family, and we told our love story, they were all shocked that I had let my guard down long enough to actually fall in love.

Part of me can't help but think that the little glimmer of hope in the back of my mind that I would get swept off of my feet worked in my favor and helped me have the love I'd always secretly dreamed of sharing with someone.'
