My Favorite Valentine's Day Memory

Reader Post: 'My favorite Valentine's Day memory took place over 20 years ago. I was almost 17, and he was a year older than me. I had no idea that anything was coming my way. I had no boyfriend at the time, and I never had the luck of having a boyfriend during Valentine's Day. Since I was little, I always got a bit of chocolate from my dad, but that was it. But during this particular year, when I was in 11th grade, I got a major surprise. Everyone was getting Valentine's Day candy from various people. I was in class, and my teacher handed me a box of candy shaped like a heart. I was shocked, and I no idea where the candy came from since again, I had no boyfriend.
I walked out in the hall, walking slow and shocked. Then a guy came up to me, with a grin on his face. He told me that he was the one who gave me the candy. I told him thanks, and hugged him shyly. I got to know him, and we started to hang out. I really didn't like him romantically at first, although I thought he was nice enough to hang around. He asked me to be his girlfriend, and I said yes, although I still didn't feel strong for him. But on a date over pizza, it hit me! I fell for him, and we were inseparable for almost two years after that. Our relationship didn't last, and I haven't heard from him in 20 years. But I will always remember the guy that gave me my first real Valentine's Day present. The candy and the guy were both very sweet.'
