Mom's Extra Special Mother's Day Gift

Reader Post: 'For years, my mother has told me the story about her extra special Mother's Day gift. About 30 years ago now, my mom was pregnant with me. She was due later in May, and who would guess that the doctor would be so wrong on the due date.

Mother's Day had barely begun when my mom started having contractions. My dad took her to the hospital about 12:30 am on Mother's Day. The nurses called the doctor and woke her up and the doctor had barely arrive when at 1:50am in the morning, I made my entrance into the world.

This way my mother's very first Mother's Day, and what a special one it was. As her firstborn child, I was the special Mother's Day gift that arrived that year for her. Weighing in at only 6 pounds, I was a small gift, but one with a very loud cry.

Now every single Mother's Day since we remember when mom first became a mom. I was the gift and hopefully one that will keep on giving to my very special mom.'
