Love Poetry: What If?
by Charlotte Cohen
(London, United Kingdom)
'Sick with insecurity,
My breath is not in London anymore,
And my heart was at bay then,
The seas were between them before.
Now I'm here,
And the sea has dried,
My lost footsteps are seen in sand,
Wet only from the tears I've cried.
But, I'd cry every last one,
For the sea to come home,
To have him in my arms again,
And smell the sweetness,
Of his cologne.
This land is thirsty,
But yet; in it I'm drowning,
I tiptoe towards light,
With a heart that's pounding.
My mind is full of 'what if's',
And these I cannot shake,
For, now that I'm crawling on all fours,
The greatness of this land is awake.
What if, he falls in love with her,
And forgets about me?
What if, this sea returns,
But between I and he?'
