Love Poetry: Unloved Lover
by Charlotte Cohen
(London, United Kingdom)
'My eyes were starry and now they're in tears,
Either way struggling to see,
Blinded by the deepest of my fears.
Losing the will to live with a breaking heart,
That has me lost in demotion,
And falling apart.
Cursed by the three words that sealed my fate,
Held hostage by love,
I will retaliate;
I'll hide in the dark and,
My heart I'll incarcerate,
Drug my veins with ignorance of my heartbreak,
And in the sweet mercy of my prayers,
My soul will sedate.
I'll listen as the birds sing,
In the early sky,
Where dawn finds the earth,
Awake in my eyes.
I'll wander naked through an English field,
Til' my feet are soft,
And my wounds are healed.
The stars will play with me,
Whilst they flicker in the night,
Hushing eyelids closed,
Like a lanterns sad light.'
