Love Poetry: Two Halves of a Whole
by Katherine

'Love, sweet love, love that lights my heart through darkest waters
Love that causes my heart to float through air
This love that has left me awe-struck since it began
How, dear love, might I ask how you did it
You come in unannounced into this world which love seems a sore fit
And you make it your personal delight to morph my life
You take it upon yourself to change me
Without my consent or knowledge
You show me happiness and joy and warmth
And you plant this smile onto the blank canvas that was my face
I have many times dreamt of your mystery; the magic
But never did I expect it to capture me so securely
Just know, my dear, that jealousy has never been known to pay a favor or forget to call
So know that once you interrupted my solitude
Your bitter counterpart, hate, arrived as well
When this tyrant introduced himself to me
I was unaware of its majesty
See, hatred has his way of dealings
Whatever gift he chooses to present to you
It becomes your obligation to pay his ugly fee
Whether it be money, possession, maybe even love
You may not have known this, dear
But hate has got its tabs on you
He controls you, when he says, you’re threw
It is time for you to leave
Hatred cannot be avoided
With his swift eye protruding humanity
Waiting for his moment to strike
Hatred seems to find pleasure in being overly cruel
He will twist your spirit by its bones until they snap into brittle reminders
Love, sweetest love, be fair warned of hatred who has fallen in love with you'
