Love Poetry: The picture
by Siavash Saadlou
(London, United Kingdom)
'I dedicate this short and simple poem to my dad. I never got a chance to see him, because he got killed in the Gulf War when I was a tyke, no more than three months old.
I wanna paint a picture of your lovely face
A picture of no color, no creed or race
I'll use every single flower of every kind
To make this picture eternal on my mind
This picture is indeed worth a thousand words
With no recourse to falsities, no faking or pose
I'll depict your frail and fragile heart
With every ounce of my soul which is torn apart
I'll make your picture so simple, easy to see
Yet your beauty is to be fathomed by only me
This picture is for me a symbol of joy
Your absence will remain my life's greatest hole'
