Love Poetry: The long lost love
by Zikhona Nondudule
(Cape Town, South Africa)
'The love that runs through my heart for you is as pure as a dove,
The blood that pumps through my veins and keeps me alive
Quenches my thirst and cleanses my soul like the spirit from above
It's a melody that never goes out of tune,
A well rehearsed song,
A chest full of gold and all kinds of fortune,
A definite opposite of right from wrong.
I've walked miles and miles for this kind of devotion
Bearing with one question
Of a long lost emotion
That had been swept away like erosion
But I lingered because of passion
Waied till the long lost love comes and seeks my attention.
Oh! those sweet, endearing moments
How I wish could last forever
With you and me in each other's arms rapped in our garments of secret love fever.
This love is
And will always be
A place of peace and ease
For you and me.'
