Love Poetry: Rift
by Anna Burnett
(Owasso, OK, USA)
'Curving and shapeless,
You’re a shape-shifting wave of soul,
White-capping around me
As you intertwine with my own.
Oh, this ebb and flow rolls me so.
It can pick me up and hit me.
I’m anticipating its changing wake.
It will take my in an instant.
It’s exciting and shameless,
Peaking above our heads.
Tide heed, come shore
And then back in again.
Oh, this ebb and flow rolls me so.
It can pick me up and hit me.
I’m anticipating its changing wake.
It will take my in an instant.
On seaside of heaven,
Until our release,
Our crests will be bound in crude
Tangibility.
Oh, this ebb and flow rolls me so.
It can pick me up and hit me.
I’m anticipating its changing wake.
It will take my in an instant.
Until our release
And tangibility’s defeat,
Shall we truly meet.
Will you be able to withstand me?'
