Love Poetry: ON THE PURSUIT
by Carolina Alas
(Omaha, Nebraska)
'I’m no map, I get lost,
I vanish in my own thoughts,
Drifting to another place,
Floating absently without a single trace,
See, I’m on the pursuit for affection,
I pray for God to give me direction,
Dreaming of the day I live my purpose,
My predetermined destiny makes me nervous,
I quiver and shiver but then I hear a voice,
I pause time and mute all the others’ noise,
Looking around to see who it is,
I am thrilled at the discovery of who it is,
Jordan Edwin Consolver,
He makes me feel good and happy all over,
He has what I’ve been searching for,
My pursuit shall exist no more,
His smile gets me stuck for awhile,
Too good to be true I’m in denial,
As I approach I notice he’s hugging something,
I cry once I realize it’s what I’ve been missing…
He’s tenderly holding my heart,
Being cautious not to break it apart,
I smile as I unfold what I possess in my hand…
Not only his beautiful heart, but
A beautiful future some will never understand.'
