Love Poetry: Maybe (Kiss and Hug)
by Anna Burnett
(Owasso, OK, USA)
'Maybe we will fall in love.
Maybe we will just kiss and hug.
I don't know just what to say to you.
All these questions in my mind
Stem from spending so much time.
I wonder where you see this leading to.
Fear of an answer makes me hesitent,
But I know my dreams are well worth keeping alive.
The damndest thing occurred to me
As I was wondering where we might be.
I felt my heart beat out a need for you.
I'd persist and you'd show restraint.
Sometimes, it felt we were miles away.
Through all this you gave me all of you.
Fear of an answer makes me hesitant, but
I know my dreams are well worth keeping alive.
Up yonder I can see us old, and
The seasons come and go.
Don't worry 'cause we'll keep on growing.
We can weather any storm.
Let's hold on to the dreams we own, and
Keep our eyes to the sun.
Maybe we will fall in love.
Maybe we will just kiss and hug.
I don't know just what to say to you.
All these questions in my mind
Stem from spending so much time.
I wonder where you see this leading to.
Fear of an answer made me hesitent, but
I know my dreams are well worth keeping alive.
I know my arms embrace you only,
Because mine will pull toward yours.'
