Love Poetry: Luna
by Ruan Joubert
(South-Africa)
I saw you at the back door
Looking toward the moon, it's reflected light
Reflecting off of you.
Where did you go?
I feel you like old light
They can see me shine
You fill my veins with solar filigree
Your beestung lips traced the contours of my neck
And I felt space tear
The veil is lifted
An astral body everywhere
You are Isis in my eyes
Holy wife and mother
Does your Nile fill without me there?
For my river runs dry
Your absence leaves me bare
You sing to me:
I am then, and now and all that shall be.
I am siren and sailor
Come break yourself on my rocks, so that I may heal you on the shore.
I saw you at the back door.
Waiting for the tide.
You come fetch me, cold and hungry
You come to take me back inside.
