Love Poetry: Jamee
by Kendra Galahan

'The ocean waves collapse a whisper speaking to the sea,
They drown it out protecting - their unchanged dynasty.
The whisper wanders like a child, singing the same pure song,
It bobs and sways with the current - carrying it along.
Waiting for a reply it only lengthens it’s sweet tune,
Adding notes and rest and harmony, hoping to hear from the ocean soon.
Day turns to night and the stars light up a set of golden wings,
Despite the silence darkness brings, it still ignores that which the whisper sings.
Days become months as the melody floats further from the beach,
It begins to worry that eternity may not be something it can reach.
Icy water grasps coldly onto the whisper’s feet,
As the unwelcoming tide urges once again, for it to just retreat.
The strength the whisper holds is not in form or physicality,
In fact it’s strength entirely - is something you cannot see.
It overpowers the obstacles, a number it has met,
Warming it’s wings and performing at best, nearing the orange sunset.
The whisper is now close enough to touch the glowing ball,
It seems it has made it to a divine audience after all.
Every ray of light soaks up the sound the whisper makes,
The song will be forever, no matter how long it takes.
When all along the whisper is beauty - a beauty we call love,
It flew with soul between two lovers and guidance from above.
The vast sea didn’t listen - didn’t cheer for an encore,
It was just the path of life, starting from the shore.
The whisper sought for only two to know what it had to say,
A reminder to the beach-drawn lovers, to listen faithfully everyday.'
