Love Poetry: It Was That Love
by Ayanda Myende
(South Africa)
'It was that love.
That unforgetable love.
It was that love.
Our beautiful love.
Our almost perfect love.
Sitting here alone on our spot,
Watching the beautiful moon,
I thought of her,
Because that what she was;
Beauty!
As we kissed under the sunrise,
As we made love under the sunset,
I called her my sunshine.
But she was more than that.
She had an undying spirit like Winnie Mandela.
When she stood on that stage,
She swam in praise,
As she showed the power of the spoken word.
The power of the written word.
What we had was real.
It felt right like love-making on a rainy day.
When she looked at me
Whith those brown eyes,
Damn I felt like I was in heaven,
A place I've neve been before.
A place I hope she's in.
With her beautiful voice
She made me glow
As she said those three words for the first time,
"I LOVE YOU"
It was meant to be.
When she said "I DO"
It was confirmed.
Lord she was special!
She was my queen!
Till death did us part.
Even though I was sad,
Even though I'm still sad,
The love we shared kept me goin'
That love kept me goin'
That unforgetable love
Our beautiful love.
Our almost-perfect love
Kept me goin''
