Love Poetry: From your penumbra, down
by John Marks
(Johannesburg, South Africa)
'I bring a flurry of words maybe they're lost in introduction.
It's hard to stray or sway from the fact that my heart is in abduction.
By the power of Pluto, my will, my emotions take no heed.
With the darkest parts of my soul I see the light in supersede.
In crossing distance bridges fall gently to my feet.
Leading the way to my one desire, to the tune of your heart at beat.
How the road already knows is beyond my current reach.
Drawing across its path, your scent, to guide me through obstacles' breach.
Your stride leaves words among the minds of those in chance embracing.
A whole world at one with whispers of your, mellifluous elegance, so gracing.
I find it in my stare toward your physical- Your soft, seductive being.
Or rather- From your penumbra downward, where my mind swims ever in searching.
Deeper than your radiance, deeper than flesh itself,
You are no 'prized' possession inanimate on nature's shelf!
More a Goddess sought, the origins of your beauties seething.
To touch the entity behind the skin, for soul above flesh more meaning.
Yet I may purse my lips and lathe them with affection,
Planting tastes of newer worlds, toward your heart's direction.
But I predict by my own mind that I will never draw a frown,
As long as I'm always searching the planes, from your penumbra down.'
