Love Poetry: Fly Away With Me
by Isaac Vander Sluis
(Santa Rosa, CA, USA)
'Come to me, my Angel,
Fold your wings and snuggle close.
Let my arms enfold you;
Let them drive away the cold.
Take your place beside me.
Rest your head; I’ll keep you near.
Let’s make this moment last;
Stop the clocks and keep me here.
Your beauty is so brilliant,
It permeates the night.
We need no lamps or lanterns;
Your beauty gives us light.
Your voice is smooth and gentle
As it slips into my ear.
The language of your lips
Is ringing out so crystal clear.
Your eyes sparkle like gems,
Like the most precious of jewels.
They reflect the light of life,
Like a placid night lagoon.
Your hair flows like a river
Of the purest mountain spring.
I love the way it drapes your shoulders
And the fragrant scent it brings.
Just above your head,
A glowing halo I can see.
Spread your wings, my Angel;
Come and fly away with me.'
