Love Poetry: Dreams and Reality

'When I close my eyes, in the dark of the night.
And I think of you, and it feels so right.
That’s when I smile, and I feel your touch.
And I picture it further, and I start to bush.
I drift into sleep, and you’re there by my side.
And I feel your breath, though it’s just in my mind.
And we’re under the covers, and you pull me up close.
And you whisper sweet nothing’s, and on it goes…
I open my eyes, and you don’t fade away.
You seem oh-so real, and you promise you’ll stay.
I reach out my hand; comb your hair through my fingers.
I take a deep breath, and the scent of you lingers…
I look into your eyes, and they’re so full of love.
Your lips meet with mine, and we fit hand-in-glove.
Yet I know you’re not real, but you’re here next to me.
And you’re hugging me closely, and that’s how it should be.
I rest my head on your chest, and you hold me so tight.
And my eyelids grow heavy, and you kiss me good night.
And I drift into sleep, in your strong warm embrace.
And I know when I wake, I’ll look up at your face…
I’m roused from your touch, by the sound of birds singing.
And I try to hold on to you, but the alarm starts it’s ringing.
And I open my eyes, and you’re fading away.
And the warmth that was you, is the rising suns rays…
Your scent disappears
Your image is hollow
You’re no longer there
As I weep in my pillow'
