Love Poetry: Dreaming Away
by Cynthia Hack
(Crawfordsville, IN United States)
'Something is calling me away from this day
A shade of lavender or a song of love
I sail this salty ocean of memories
and plunge for the precious pearls of days gone by
For dreams kept alive by the danger and heat and holy flame
A royal sun lingers there weaving silent spells into your silken hair
I return to an eternal embrace
Where you and I blend perfectly into a holy trinity
This sheltering embrace which cannot be erased by time or tears
I return to the passion and perfection of your eyes meeting mine
Wisdom working just beneath your warm, youthful skin
Burning within your mind
Each day we found new as morning flowers misted with dew
And gathered each one reverently as though they were poetry
To inhale the scent of unity
So something calls me away on this pale, wind stripped day
Days and dreams now distant as Saturn
A shade of sepia in autumns elegant elegy
I descend to find buried treasure
And gather together this colorful symphony of sublime kisses and strong sinews
Days when love welcomed me and flowed on endlessly like a river melts into the sea
Days when magic and miracles came so easily
As easily as our hands and hearts have the power to change fate
Days when love was passionate as a prayer
And the sun shined brilliantly
In the sweet sapphire skies
And so time has told me a story of love
Earnestly and honestly showing my true reflection
Giving me the secret of eternity to guide me
Truthfully and gracefully
My bones become shaky as my love is made stronger
The cold becomes bitter as my prayers are made sweeter
My body grows older
But my thoughts become purer
My heart fuller
My songs bolder
And so another day passes away
Nothing more than a brush stroke or a single note in the divine masterpiece
Love is here inside me and in everything around me
I hide away with it kept warm by whispers of sanctity
Love is all that is needed
It is the power of the earth and the peace of heaven
And the dreams you share with me are noble as a lions heart
Rare as ruby fields
Eternal, the answer to every question is this love
The melody to every hymn is our love
The amen to every prayer and every omen from above
Is our lasting love'
