Love Poetry: Amor Como Lluvia
by NaTalia A. McLeod

'Your love is like the rain
it comes & all too quickly
goes away
-that is until i have plans
already made, and then
my "once welcomed guest"
won't go away...instead
you insist on staying;
causing a dilemma and delaying
my previous engagement.
Now i'm confused because
like precipitation on a hot summer's day
you show up unexpectant
yet the irony of your love
is somewhat pleasant...
But your love is like rain,
it comes and all too quickly
goes away
-then like a farmer in drought,
for your return i pray
as i eagerly await
-day...after...day
for the clouds to gather
and to hear the forecaster say
that it will rain
but then i guess my anticipation
is why you never came
-for whatever reason,
the fact still remains:
your love is like rain,
much needed rain...
since i am like a ground
unbearably dry,
your love like rain
is my only desire...
a requirement.
For i have an intense thirst
that only your love like rain
can quinch;
and when it rains,
I hope it pours because
I need more than an inch.
I want to drown in your affection
being that your love,
like rain is never permanent
-temporary, an unpredictable event
that comes without warning
and leaves without promise
of ever coming back again
...leaving me impotent.
Wishing i was blind to the
beauty of a rainy day;
or oblivious to the hints of silver
in the clouds of gray.
Your love is like rain...
and it incites me in an ambiguous way.
You frustrate me...& sedate me
-deprive me then supply me
with the nutrients that i need
...I fiend for your love like rain
no matter the amount
-torrential downpour or
light sensuous mist,
just enought to whet my appetite,
merely appease me;
You'll never satisfy my avarice
because the truth is:
Your love is like rain,
it is your temperament to
come and all too quickly go away...
that is something i can not change
-besides, it's not feasible
to have rain everday.'
