Love Poetry; A Love That Won't End
by Gordon Hannpn

'I’d climb the highest mountain,
But I’m too afraid of heights.
I’d swim the widest ocean,
But I’m scared of those shark bites.
I’d cross the largest desert,
But the sand is much too hot.
I’d give you a million dollars,
But ten is all I’ve got.
I’d fight the biggest bully,
And punch him on the chin,
Then run to the nearest building,
And lock myself right in.
I’d buy you the biggest diamond,
That anyone’s ever seen.
Then be too embarrassed to see you,
Cause your finger turned up green.
I think I might still try it,
My love for you is grand.
I’d clap and scream all day for you,
Cause I’m your biggest fan.
I’d clap and scream like crazy,
Every time you stood in line,
Every time you go for groceries,
Every time you spend a dime,
Every time you pick your nose,
Every time you wash your hands,
Every time you change your clothes,
Every time you take a chance,
Every time you find some time for me,
Every time you take me out,
Every time you say, “You’re fine!” to me,
Every time you scream and shout,
I’d clap myself right crazy,
And scream my voice right hoarse,
I never would be lazy,
And never want divorce.
I’d love you up completely,
And call you my best friend.
I’d love you from beginning,
And never would it end.
Therefore,
If love was outside,
I love her a nice cool summer day.
If love were a decadent sweet treat,
I love her an icy cold strawberry shake.
If love were my favorite breakfast cereal,
I love her Capt'n Crunch.
If love were a gourmet meal,
I love her a mid-day, picnic lunch.
If love were dying of thirst,
I love her ice-cold lemonade.
If love were proud to be February First,
I love her Black History Month Parade.
If love were saving money,
And getting things almost free.
I love her the .99 cent store,
And maybe even the Dollar Tree.
If love were the galaxy’s brightest shining star,
I love her the Milky Way.
And if love could possibly be measured,
I already love her more tomorrow than I do today!'
