Love Poetry: A Galaxy Within Me
by Piuli Banerjee
(India)
'I look up at the sky
And find an ocean of stars.
The dark night, the cloudless horizon,
Silence, so eerie as it comes.
I look up the sky again,
And today I find a slice of Moon;
So tender, I think it might break,
But the stars binds so strongly
The slice of Heaven
With invisible strings of light.
Sparkling and dazzling white.
I look up at the sky
And after many days, I’ve lost count,
The same moon smiling back at me,
Tenderly held with the strong strings of candescence
The crest of stars gracefully blush
And dance like that in a Prince’s ballroom.
Nothing has changed
But,
A soul beside me,
A breath, close to my neck,
Hands encircling my waist,
And lips which became one.
I look up at the sky again-
And tonight I find no moon,
The stars gone back to rest,
The mighty vast is dark and fearful!
I miss a beat, but
Now I feel the hand again around my waist,
The lips which became one.
I close my eyes and feel
A galaxy within me.'
