Popular myths about love set us up for struggles in real life. The truth is that there is no such thing as a perfect relationship or a perfect partner. All couples fight, and feelings of love come and go like the weather. But that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to have a joyful and romantic relationship. Anything that’s worthwhile takes a little bit of work – sometimes a lot! – and love relationships are no exception. This is one of the inconvenient truths about being human.
The simple fact is that much like the weather, feelings change. No matter how awesome your relationship, those initial feelings that reigned supreme in the early days of your relationship will not last. It’s the same deal with all human emotions – from happiness, and joy to fear, and anger. Feelings come and go as sure as autumn follows summer.
What shouldn’t change however, regardless of how you’re feeling at any given time, is whether you act with love. When you’re in a blissful state it’s easy to act with love. When you’re angry, resentful or sad, it’s harder – but not impossible.
