Being in Love: Back in the Game

Reader Post: Being in love can be such fun! This is how I got back in the game after a long committed relationship...

I had been encouraged by friends to join a dating agency as I was recovering from a traumatic break up and needed a push back into real life. I didn't think being in love would be on the agenda for me again, but I was soon contacted. The first person I heard from was called Genna. I began to get nervous - I had never ever been on a blind date!

In her profile picture Genna looked pretty, we shared the same interests and she lived nearby - so I agreed to meet her. A public place, early evening - my first date in 15 years! Her photograph hadn't done her justice - she was stunning, we had no embarrassing silences, just talked and conversation flowed and I was oblivious to fellow diners. I was entranced and the chemistry was mutual. This was the start of something amazing and I discovered that truly being in love can be pretty amazing. My initial dating doubts just melted away. I cancelled my online membership the following day.

I felt right off she was the 'one' - I always dreamed of someone exactly like her, she was my other half. I couldn't believe my luck. She is my dream come true and now we have our first daughter, Alexis. I never stop thanking my friends for that push and still, daily, celebrate being in love.
