Beautiful Love Stories: True Love

Reader Post: 'One of the most beautiful love stories I know has left me wishing that everyone could experience this kind of true love.

It is about a couple that had been together for about 25 years. Some couples lose interest in each other, but not them. They were as much in love as the day they met. It was a nice change to see in this crazy, mixed up world.

One day she found that she had cancer and would need to undergo chemotherapy. Of course, this would cause her to lose her hair. Nobody, especially a woman, wants to lose their hair. Our hair is a very important part of us. It makes us feel attractive, but there were only two choices so she chose wisely and went ahead with the treatments.

Feeling sick and nauseous most of the time, she had her good days and bad days. Her husband was right there at her side to care for her physically and emotionally. Her hair started falling out. More and more hair was being lost and this only made her more depressed. Tears came often and easily. The only time that she was happy was when he was at her side to keep her strong.

One particularly sad day he walked through the door after a much anticipated wait by her. He wanted to surprise her and so he wore a hat. He walked in the door to see her face light up at the sight of him. He loved how she smiled and he thought that she was the most beautiful woman in the world and told her so. She laughed so hard, seeing him in the hat and said, "Why oh why are you wearing that hat!!?? It is too hot out for a winter hat.!" He snuggled up close to her to give her a big kiss, but before he did he whipped off his hat in one swoop. He was bald. He told her that he had shaved his head so that she would not feel alone. To me, that is real love.'
