Beautiful Love Stories: Like Fine Wine, Better with Time

Reader Post: 'When I was younger, I always imagined that I would marry my high school sweetheart, Tyler, have 3 kids and a second home with my hubby on some exotic location once our last child went to college. Well, fast forward 33 years, and Tyler and I seem to be living the same day over and over again. We wake up, go to work, eat dinner, go to sleep, and do it all over again the next day. And our exotic island home is not even a remote possibility.

One day I was telling my friend, Lisa, about my "predictable" life and she said something that really shocked me, "At least you have someone to come home to. I know so many people that would trade everything they have for the relationship you have with Tyler." Wow. Here I was thinking my life needed more excitement, but what could be more exciting than having someone to come home to every night and wake up to every morning?

As I drove home later that evening, I was overwhelmed with appreciation and love for my husband. And then it dawned on me: Tyler was truly the love of my life. When I arrived home, I hugged and kissed him like I hadn't in a while. Tyler was obviously surprised and asked if everything was ok. I just nodded and said, "Everything's perfect. Just perfect."

Tyler and I may not have had the fantasy life that I'd imagined back in high school, but it was perfect for us. He was my ideal and we were made for each other, and I couldn't imagine my life being as full and fun with anyone else. Our relationship was like fine wine; better with time. All that mattered was that we could depend on each and that we were in love. Cherish the love you have, and don't ever take it for granted.'
