A special kind of romance
by Doug
Talking at work, the guys asked what they were doing for their wives and girlfriends at work. I don't know if I can every be as creative as my girlfriend! She comes up with unique and personal gifts all year long, and last year for Valentine's Day I got to experience them in a flurry.
Even though we saw each other every evening, I found a card in my mailbox. It feels good to get personal mail! Inside the card, she had written a poem about all the things I meant to her. She had also researched how to write I love you in about 50 different languages, and had researched the origins of each.
In addition, she had counted the months, weeks, days, hours and minutes we had known each other. This might seem like a crazy thing to be excited about, but I knew that she had spent a lot of time recording all this information.
The card wasn't all I found - she had snuck in and left love notes all over my house. I kept finding them as I got ready to pick her up, and well into the next day. Notes were in my pockets, in the bathroom (hidden in my towel) and even in my fridge! I didn't even find all my notes in one night - every once in awhile I'll still stumble across a note she left last year.
I can barely remember the gift she gave me, but the priceless presents she gives have been a memory that makes me feel great when I think about it.
I just don't know if these guys at work can compete with that kind of romance, but it makes me look good to act like I thought of the romantic ideas for them to use on their partners.
