Reader Suggestions for Having Fun

'I love this page on having more fun. Don't we all need it in our lives?!? Anyway, it's made me think of a Robert Frost quote: 'I'd like to go climbing a birch tree...' Birch trees have always been my favorite trees - and they're a lot of fun to climb too! Have you ever gone hiking through a birch forest? I just love their graceful height and white bark. Another thing I do is to put birch logs in our fireplace in summer to make the room look more inviting. Works like a charm! love this page on having more fun. Don't we all need it in our lives?!? '...stay up late in a tree house' ~ Mark
'We're having the most fun ever writing haiku on Twitter... Actually any kind of writing can be wonderfully cathartic and loads of fun. Personally I journal, write poetry, write for my blog - and it always, always puts a smile on my face. So there you go, jump on Twitter and write haiku for fun! :-)' ~ Louisa
'A fun thing we do in our family is to build puzzles together. We always have one set up on a small table in our livingroom and we often gather round it before or after dinner to place a few pieces. This becomes talk-time for us - and a wonderful family bonding exercise at the same time. I truly think families ought to spend more time together - I'm not just talking about quality time... the quantity counts too. The good thing is that 10 minutes blocks of time here and there all add up. Families who play together, stay together!' ~ Sandy
'The times that I have the most fun is when I do absolutely nothing... no work, no tv, no household chores... Just sleeping in or sitting in the sun or giving myself over to that delicious kind of laziness that almost makes you feel guilty, but not quite. Doing nothing is the kind of fun that leads to rest and relaxation, which simultaneously brings back a bit of balance in this world where we're always doing, doing, doing. I like the idea of just 'being' for a bit. Great fun!' ~ Mel
'Up for a quick laugh? Have some fun with the following tongue-twisters: 'A big black bug bit a big black bear, and made the big black bear bleed blood.' 'A Tudor who tooted a flute tried to tutor two tooters to toot. Said the two to their tutor, "Is it harder to toot or to tutor two tooters to toot?" ' 'A bitter biting bittern Bit a better brother bittern, And the bitter better bittern Bit the bitter biter back. And the bitter bittern, bitten, By the better bitten bittern, Said: "I'm a bitter biter bit, alack!" ' 'Mr. See owned a saw. And Mr. Soar owned a seesaw. Now See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw Before Soar saw See, Which made Soar sore. Had Soar seen See's saw Before See sawed Soar's seesaw, See's saw would not have sawed Soar's seesaw. So See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw. But it was sad to see Soar so sore Just because See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw!' ' ~ Originally posted by Nessan John on Jasonsnetwork.com
'I love the idea of coming up with a 101 ways to have fun... my contribution is an oldie, but a goodie: a girl's night in. I love to get together with my girlfriends on a Friday night. We pick up a couple of pizzas and a bottle of wine and rent all our favorite tear-jerker movies. Yes, sometimes it's fun to cry. Other times we get take-away Thai food and just listen to music, chat or play boardgames ~ whatever takes our fancy. On occasion we've has pashion parties as well. That is, a representative of an adult toy company is invited to display their latest merchandise. The demo's usually have us in fits of laughter in no time! I think friendships are one of the most important ways to nurture a sense of fun. And without fun... well, life is serious enough as it is, don't you think?' ~ Mona
'The first fun thing to do is stop reading this. If you are searching this stuff up online then you clearly have no life. Second get some friends and step away from the computer. Finally get a life and live it.' ~ Ron
'Walk quietly, hand in hand with your lover through a gentle late afternoon summer shower...' ~ Wilma
'Go on a Wal-mart adventure or whatever store is nearest to you... All you do is just go to the store with some friends or your special someone and walk through it. Go to the sport section or the kids toys and goof off, or even go to the pet section and if they have fish try to think of names for all of them and remember them as you go then... Just try to enjoy the time and be silly! =D' ~ Sonya
'On approx. five (5) equally sized sheets of paper: Mark each one (1) with a travel destination where you both are able to afford to stay overnight. (Don't forget expenses: include traveling expenses, food, lodging) It has no limitations on how much or little you spend, however it is better to spend less on outings and rather spend time on each other and your relationship. Spending more qualifies for the two of you to spend more time going out than with each other, and that will take the focus away from your relationship and spending time with each other. Place the papers in a hat in a "choose from the hat" game. Pick one of the papers. The first paper that is in hand - pull it out and this will be your new traveling spot for the weekend or even for just an overnight destination. Even if the place is within your city limits or in your own neighborhood, the point here is to role play as if you both were traveling to a special destination. Spend as much time together as possible. Ps. Don't forget check-out time is usually 11:00 a.m.!' ~ Kacey Give yourself a break. Take time off from worrying so much and trying so hard. As Oprah says,
